Waking both body & mind prepares the child to face the day with gladness and gratitude. Each session taps into the wisdom of the young heart, having confidence that it would grow each day in happiness and loving-kindness.

A growing body of scientific research shows its positive effects on mental health and well-being. Practicing mindfulness can help kids learn to focus, manage stress, regulate emotions, and develop a positive outlook.

Workshop Details

This class is for children aged 6 to 8, and will be facilitated online with live instruction. Students will need to have a computer, tablet, or phone with internet and access to Google Meet. Additional work will need to be done outside of online sessions.

What to Expect

Although the class seems to be focused on the physical body, it is more of a training of one's mind or heart through movement. Mindfulness of the breath, body movement and thought formations will be emphasized.

The flow of each session is as follows:

  1. 25-minute session
  2. 10-minute break
  3. 25-minute session
  4. 10-minute closing

The sessions will cover the following topics:

  1. Lovingkindness & Friendliness
  2. Forgiveness & Acceptance
  3. Generosity & Sharing
  4. Becoming a Warrior: Kind Speech
  5. Becoming a Warrior: Kind Actions
  6. Becoming a Warrior: Kind Thoughts
  7. Being a Warrior every day: Diligence (Parts 1 & 2)

A downloadable Crafts Journal is included in this workshop. A few sample pages are shown below.
